Bailey, Jones & Mowbray provides the reader with a collection of cases, statutes and government materials linked through with commentary and notes that clarify and put the law into context, while encouraging a critical understanding of the subject. Since the last edition we have seen, in turn, Labour, Coalition and Conservative governments, as well as many significant developments in administrative law both in the structure and operation of administrative processes and the principles applied through both conventional judicial review and the Human Rights Act 1998. One major recurrent theme has been the adverse effects of austerity on both the provision of public services and arrangements to secure administrative justice.
